Nawiążę kontakt z Polakami z Dzisny.
Dzisna name is irrelevant in Lithuanian language. Dzisna had 3 ethnic groups: Polish, Jewish and Belorussian. Ethnic groups were defined by religion rather than ethnic roots. Until 1939 most of the childred went to Polish schools were separate religion lessons were offered to Jewish and Christian Orthodox kids. There were no Lithuanians in Dzisna. Today population is mostly belorussian and russian as most of Jews were exterminated by Hitler and Poles were deported to Western part of Poland.
I am curious what the origin of the word "Disna" is...
What does "disna" mean in Lithuanian?
